"The Student Nurse Congress is running it's 3nd year in 2020. It was held for the first time at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London in April 2018. The event has been well received over the years and has been attended by mostly student nurses from around the UK and even some from abroad.

We've had the privilege to have Jane Cummings, CNO of England, Janet Davies, Chief Executive of RCN and Anne Marie Rafferty, President of RCN to be our Keynote Speakers, along with a stellar line-up of inspirational speakers including Dr Peter Carter, Professor Tony Butterworth, Professor Oliver Shanely, Professor Allison Leary, Jude Diggins, Professor Geraldine Walters, Mr Steve Ford, Kevin Acott and Julie Benton. We also had a lots of support from Capital Nurse, NMC, Nursing Times, RCN and Unison. In the last few years, the event was led and supported by a number of student nurses and newly qualified nurses to present at the congress.

I hope over the years that students feel more inspired and better informed about their ever changing profession from attending the event. It's a day filled with exciting topics that draws upon current issues in Nursing which I hope promotes indepth discussion and gives all who attend, food for thoughts. I look forward to planning 2020's event and I hope to meet more passionate and inspirational student nurses."

What is the Purpose of the Congress?

The purpose of the Nursing Congress is to help nursing students to recognise and expand their knowledge in regards to nursing education, care and practice. It will be an opportunity to provide students with a platform to meet students from other universities across different fields of nursing and across all year groups where they are able to develop, learn and share nursing experiences and practices together. The ultimate goal is to encourage and stimulate students to increase their participation, engagement and attention with their nursing profession and to hopefully provide students with the opportunity for both personal and professional development.

The student congress will be designed to enhance a unique integrated academic experience. This will be achieved by developing a culture of collaboration between students, academics and other health professionals to be a part of the committee group to help develop and organise the congress together. As well as inviting academics and other health professionals to facilitate discussion groups and debates.

The Congress will consist of the following:
1) Key Note Speakers to frame the day
2) Debate Sessions
3) Discussion Sessions
4) Interactive Workshops

We are still in the early stages of organising this congress and will hopefully have more information up soon.
